Amazon and Other Companies Turned Smartphone Makers

In case you missed it, Amazon recently announced the release of their smartphone, Amazon Fire Phone. The device offers impressive features that major smartphone game-players have yet to incorporate in their products, namely, the "3-D" Dynamic Perspective. More so a cool factor rather than incredibly efficient, the technology enables users to experience 3-D effects when viewing the phone at a tilted angle. True to Amazon's motto of selling everything from A-Z, their Firefly app will be able to essentially scan everything from A-Z. The visual recognition program can identify anything from objects to TV shows and music, thereby taking users to their purchasing platform. This is hardly the first time a major corporation has jumped into the smartphone business. Let's take a look at some other businesses who followed in the same footsteps.

Apple

This one is clearly a success story. From their start selling personal computers, Apple has come a long way to now dominate both the smartphone and computer market. Since the 1st generation iPhone was released in 2007, the company has come out with 6 highly-profitable new versions, not including the anticipated iPhone 6. By building the first multi-touch display smartphone, Apple has revolutionized the industry and made waves for new trending innovations in the process.
