The opportunity

The Business Analyst (BA) is a member of a full lifecycle agile development team. You will be expected to work across multiple business units to perform business and systems analysis activities and tasks. The Business Analyst will provide oversight for development team activities. You will work directly with subject matter experts (SME) and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are thoroughly documented, tested, and achieved. BA’s will be involved, and work in concert with other team members, to analyze, design, implement, and test solutions.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Follow Department IT processes and coordinate with other Department IT staff to ensure compliance with Department standards. 
• Participate in the analysis of current system(s) to gain an understanding of inputs and outputs. 
• Participates in all phases of the development and implementation process and may act as a subject matter expert on special projects. 
• Follow a formalized solution architecture for data modeling projects. 
• Provide appropriate documentation for tool decisions, estimating assumptions, and reporting outputs. 
• Performs initial dataset investigation and exploratory data analysis.
• Chooses potential models and algorithms to visualize specific datasets and correlates outliers to real world use cases. 
• Attend and participate in all project related meetings and assuring meeting notes are produced and distributed, as necessary. 
• Correspond (verbally and in writing) with project team and internal stakeholders regarding project activities, deliverables, and status. 

Compensation and term 

This opportunity is for a full-time, multi-month contract position with possible extensions with pay to commensurate with experience up to $36/hour or $74,880 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire. 

Candidates are expected to work full time onsite. 

Qualifications you need

A successful Business Intelligence Analyst must possess the following:

• 1 to 3 years IT work experience in business intelligence tools and systems.
• Proficient with Oracle. 
• Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong communication and validation skills. 
• Goals-oriented proactive team player with the demonstrated ability to multi task and prioritize in a fast-paced professional environment. 
• Critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills that can make independent decisions within area of responsibility and expertise. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of and experience with State of Florida information technology standards and processes. 
• Experience with IT systems and processes, methodologies, and their direct implementation to projects. 
• Experience with defining data analysis processes and enterprise toolset architectures. 
• Experience working on multiple projects as a project leader or frequently as the subject matter expert. 
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio. 
• Knowledge of PowerPoint and SharePoint.
• Experience with Team Foundation Server.
