Let’s define the two first.
Virtual Reality (VR) – Creates an artificial environment that is projected through a screen onto your field of view (FOV), typically through a headset, and which you can interact with using sensors and devices.
Augmented Reality (AR) -Manipulates your current environment by projecting images and objects onto your FOV, typically through a headset, and which you can interact with using sensors and devices.
Both VR and AR play with our reality. AR enhances it while VR creates a new one. Both use a headset to project the environment although there have been different applications, for instance Pokémon Go which uses a smartphone to visually interface with the environment.
These technologies provide a way for people to immerse themselves in an experience. Companies like Google, Sony, and Microsoft are investing into developing products that can be used for education, entertainment, or both.
TECKpert has worked with developers building environments and products in both areas. Contact us to learn more.
